The ABC website claims it 'plays a leading role in journalistic independence'. I guess the ABC defines independence as being free from compulsion to report facts or hold ministers to account.

Malcolm reminds me of a PNG politician I saw in Port Moresby. He did nothing for his entire term and just before his next election, went to all the villages giving away slabs of SP Lager. The villagers took the beer, got drunk, and promised to vote for him, which they didn't.
